Taylor Honors Exemplary Staff Members

Congratulations to the 2025-26 Taylor Teacher of the Year and Support Person of the Year!

Abby Brocato was named Taylor’s Teacher of the Year. Abby teaches the kindergarten and first grade MIPA (Multi-Intervention Program for Students with Autism) class. She came to teach at Taylor last school year after working with students at Carlin Springs Elementary School.

Abby says her favorite thing about Taylor is how the students truly embrace inclusivity here.  She’s been recognized for managing a demanding job with grace and professionalism, all while with a smile on her face. Abby was acknowledged for her dedication to individualized attention and setting high standards for educational excellence in her students.

When she’s not at Taylor, Abby enjoys reading, working out and spending time with her dog.

Darwain Frost was named Taylor’s Support Person of the Year. Darwain, better known as Frost, also works as an instructional assistant in the second through fifth grade MIPA classroom. He’s been with Taylor for nine years and has worked as a substitute teacher in MIPA programs around the county.

Frost helps out with daily classroom activities showing proactive support for student safety and emotional well-being. What he enjoys most about working at Taylor is the collaboration among staff, the strong relationships with families, and the positive energy from students.

Outside of work, in addition to watching football, Frost enjoys reconnecting with nature, travelling around the mid-Atlantic in search of bears, beaches and historic railroad towns.
