Reading Services

Purpose: For Taylor students to remain strong, proud readers or grow into strong, skilled, independent readers who love to explore a variety of books for many purposes.

Hopes & Dreams for Taylor Students: The Reading Team at Taylor hopes that our students come in excited about school every day and especially about something they read.  We want them to embrace how reading is the most important, fundamental skill that will help them to be successful in life.  We hope that they read books that grow their vocabulary, grow their confidence, stimulate their intellect, strengthen their writing skills, take them on adventures, tickle their funny bones, peak their curiosity, make them culturally responsive, resonate their humanity, reflect their  kindness and help them develop an appetite for rich, diverse literature. Most of all, we hope Taylor  students embody a deep love &  passion for reading that they  pass on through the ages.

This is my 9th year in education and my 1st year in APS. I received my undergrad degree from West Chester University and my M.Ed. from George Mason University. I’m originally from outside the Philadelphia area (Go Phils & Birds!) and I live in Alexandria. When I’m not working, I love spending time with family/friends, seeing live music, traveling, exercising, baking, and reading. Beach and mountain trips other favorites of mine.

This is my second year at Taylor as an English Learner and Reading teacher, but it is my 15th year of teaching. I'm originally from Albany, NY, but currently live in Del Ray, Alexandria and enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons ages 5 and 2.
