Taylor parents and staff come together to create artwork for Taylor’s office
New colorful artwork hangs in the front office at Taylor, a collaboration between Taylor staff and parents.
Marina Laurence, Taylor parent (left) and Ashley Hendrix, Taylor art teacher, created this hand-woven art installation that hangs in the Taylor front office.
“KIDS: Kind, Inclusive, Determined and Safe, 2024” is a creation by Taylor art teacher, Ashley Hendrix and Marina Laurence, an interior designer and Taylor parent who donated her professional expertise as a design professional. The three wall hangings use brightly colored oversized arm kitting yarn and represent the Taylor traits: be kind, be inclusive, be determined and be safe.
The artists used color to represent the Taylor Traits:
In addition, Taylor parents worked together to create a string art installation entitled “Gradient of Community, 2024”. A collaboration between Laurence, the Karapinar family and the Shum-Sanders family, letters were cut from plywood by Ilker Karapinar and the ombre string art, in shades of blue and orange, was executed by Mary Shum-Sanders, Cemre Karapinar and Laurence.
Taylor string art adorns the wall of Taylor’s front office.
Laurence writes of this piece, “The Taylor Community: Woven yarn symbolizes the threads that tie us together in the colorful ombre blend to reflect the spectrum of diversity in our community.”
Plans are in the works for one more installation for the front office created by Taylor students.
The survey will be open through Tuesday, June 24th at 5 pm.
